Plastic Compatibilizer

A formulation-matched compatibilizer works at the boundary between polymers, elastomers or fillers that would otherwise separate or bond poorly. By lowering interfacial tension, refining phase size and strengthening interfacial adhesion, it can improve stress transfer and convert brittle phase boundaries into a tougher, more stable morphology. The result can include higher impact strength and elongation as well as better dispersion and processing consistency, but only when the chemistry and dosage match the actual material system.

Product Overview

Improves interfacial adhesion and phase dispersion in polymer blends, helping recover impact strength, elongation and processing stability.

Applicable Materials

  • PP / PE blends
  • polyolefin / engineering-plastic blends
  • filled compounds
  • recycled mixed plastics

Typical Applications

  • Immiscible or partly compatible blends such as PP / PE and polyolefin / engineering-plastic systems
  • Recycled mixed-plastic compounds requiring toughness and property recovery
  • Mineral-, fibre- or elastomer-modified compounds requiring better interface bonding and dispersion

Key Benefits

  • Reduces interfacial tension, refines dispersed-phase size and helps prevent phase coalescence
  • Improves interfacial adhesion and stress transfer, which can raise impact strength, elongation and low-temperature toughness
  • Supports more uniform filler dispersion, recycled-content utilization and a more stable property balance

Selection Notes

  • No universal compatibilizer fits every blend: share both polymer grades, blend ratio, filler or elastomer type, recycled content and target properties before selection.
  • Optimize dosage by trial; excess or mismatched compatibilizer can reduce stiffness, alter melt flow or fail to deliver further toughening.
  • Compare phase dispersion, impact, elongation, tensile or flexural properties, MFR and heat performance under the actual compounding conditions.
  • Suitable for compounding, injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, film or sheet trials depending on the resin system.
  • Share base resin, target performance, part thickness and process route before final grade selection.
  • Use TDS/SDS and small-batch testing to confirm dosage, appearance and final performance before mass production.
